Cannon-Woods

FRANKLIN—Tamela Vernice Cannon and Michael Dale Woods were united in marriage on Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. at Sycamore Baptist Church.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll G. Cannon of Courtland.

She is a granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Cannon and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gordon, all of Emporia.

Honorary grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. George Burgess Jr. of Franklin.

He is the son of Sandra Miller of Beattyville, Ky., and the late Bobby Gene Woods of Leonardtown, Md.

He is also the stepson of Donna Woods of

Leonardtown. He is

the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Woods and Mr. and Mrs. James Brown of

Hillsville, Va.

Dr. Roger Crump officiated the double ring ceremony.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

Wedding music was provided by organist, Ira Witt and pianist, Tricia Davis.

“The Father Says I Do” was sung by Dr. Crump.

Wayne Cutchins Jr. sang “Wedding Song,” “That’s The Way” and “Keeper of the Stars.”

Matron of honor was Leslie C. Whitehead, sister of the bride. Beverly D. Ellis, a

longtime friend of the bride, served as bridesmaid.

Kelsey Lynn Whitehead, niece of the bride, was a junior bridesmaid and her sister, Kristen Nicole Whitehead, was the flower girl.

Ron Naff, friend of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Stephen and Joshua O’Kresik, friends of the couple, and Leonard Whitehead, brother-in-law of the bride.

Mistress of ceremonies was Lynn O. Goodrich, friend of the bride.

The candles were lit by Stephanie O’Kresik and

Megan Owens.

Program bearers were Savannah Britt and Cheyenne Vaughan. All of the girls are in her G.A. group at Sycamore Baptist Church.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the American Legion Building in Franklin.

After a trip to Maryland, the couple will reside in Franklin.

Parties

A “Set The Table” Bridal Shower honoring Tammy Cannon and Mike Woods hosted by Sandra Benson and Leslie Whitehead was held in the fellowship hall of Sycamore Baptist Church on Sept. 16.

Many useful gifts for “setting

their table” were received.

“An Around The Clock Shower” for Tammy and Mike was held on Sept. 29 at the Forks of The River Community Building hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Doug Ellis.

The couple received many

unique and useful gifts.

Meredith Wrenn hosted a Bridal Luncheon for Tammy at the Pace House on Sept. 30.

After enjoying a delicious lunch, the group retired to the parlor where Tammy opened many beautiful and useful gifts.

Her Norfolk co-workers

“surprised” her on Oct. 9, with a bridal shower.

On Oct. 17, she was honored

with a “surprise” Bridal Shower given by her Franklin co-workers. Many useful gifts were received at both.

Tammy and Mike hosted a Rehearsal Dinner on Oct. 19 at Sycamore Church’s fellowship hall for their bridal party.

The couple was assisted by Mr. and Mrs. David Bryant and Mr. and Mrs. Billy Benson.

Following the dinner, the group

enjoyed a CD complied by Sandra Benson, longtime friend of the bride.

It was made up of pictures throughout the couple’s life — before and after they met.

The couple also chose this time to honor each person in their bridal party with a special gift.
