IVOR—John Augustus Ramsey, III, 48, died suddenly Christmas morning at home.

Mr. Ramsey was a native of Isle of Wight County, born June 5, 1959, the eldest son of Mildred and John (Jack) A. Ramsey Jr.

He was a farmer until December 2000.

He was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church, a 1978 graduate of Isle of Wight Academy, alumni of Augusta Military Academy and attended North Carolina State University.

Survivors include his mother, Mildred; sister, Nancy; brothers, Reed and Edwin; and nieces, Jaclyn Augusta and Carly Reed.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mill Swamp Cemetery, Mill Swamp Road, Ivor, with the Rev. Robert F. Cofield Jr. officiating.

His body will lie in Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk.

The family will receive friends at home.
