James F. Johnson III

IVOR—James Franklin “Buck” Johnson III, 63, died Dec. 26, 2007, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, after a long illness.
Born in Southampton County he was the son of the late James Franklin Johnson, Jr. and Evelyn Seward Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a retired farmer, a past member of Ivor Vol. Rescue Squad, and a member of Mill Swamp Baptist Church.
He loved farming, gardening, and his animals, and with his outgoing personality he never met a stranger and was devoted to his friends.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Joan Francis Johnson; two daughters, Karen Kelly and husband, Robert of Ivor, and Cynthia Lane and husband Richard of Surry; three “special” grandsons, Jameson, Austin and Owen; and two sisters, Carolyn Moncus and Donna Cornett, both of Windsor.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, with the Rev. Wayne Lowe Jr. officiating.
Interment will follow in Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Ivor.
The family will receive friends today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
