BOYKINS—Wayne Thomas Edwards, 58, died Dec. 20, 2007.

A native of Southampton County, he was predeceased by his mother, the late Jane Smith Edwards; and his grandparents, Thomas “Jack” and Elsie Smith, and Douglas and Olie Edwards.

Mr. Edwards retired from Hercules in 2005 as a mechanic after 35 years service. He was a former Army National Guardsman and a member of Boykins Baptist Church.

Survivors include his father, Howard Elliott Edwards of Margarettsville, N.C.; four sons Johnathan Wesley Edwards and wife Jessica of Courtland, Christopher Douglas Edwards and wife Jamie of Drewryville, Cpl. Matthew Thomas Edwards, USMC and wife Victoria stationed in San Diego, Calif.,

Brandon Wilson Edwards and wife Danielle of Drewryville; one brother, Donald Elliott Edwards and wife Shelby of Franklin; and five grandchildren, Tyler, Tristan, Colby, Chrissa and Charles Edwards.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Beechwood Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Bunn officiating.

The family was to receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Boykins Chapel of Wright Funeral Home and suggests memorials be made to Boykins Baptist Church, 32057 Main Street, Boykins, Va. 23827, or Boykins Rescue Squad,
