CHESAPEAKE—George F. Haskin Sr., 87, of the 4100 block of Wake Ave., died Dec. 9, 2007.

Mr. Haskins was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Southampton County. George was a member of New Hope UCC, Berkley, where he served as senior deacon and father of the church.

He retired from the Naval Supply Center where he served 34 years as lead stevedore.

Survivors include his wife, Fannie O. Haskins; two daughters, Phyllis O. McCann of Chesapeake and Sylvia C. Wesby of Norfolk; one son, Bishop George F. Haskins Jr. (Dianne) of Upper Marlboro, Md.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great- grandchildren; 23 great-great- grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at noon Saturday in New Hope UCC, 145 E. Liberty St.

Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 4114 Wake Ave. one hour prior to the service for the procession to the church.

Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby St. Chapel, is in charge.
