SMITHFIELD—Gloston Winnegan Sr., 97, died Nov. 30, 2007, in Sentara Obici Hospital.

Mr. Winnegan was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie P. Winnegan; and two daughters; three sons; three sisters; nine brothers.

He is survived by six daughters, Alease Green, Mable Wester, Gladys Bailey, Josie Johnson, Gloria Hawks, Susie Drew; five sons, Gordon Ray, Thomas, Baby Boy, Gloston Jr. and Nelson Winnegan; two sisters, Lillian Weaver, Annie Lee Winnegan; 71 grandchildren; 113 great-grandchildren; 48 great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held noon today at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eldridge Lucas III officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewing will be at the church one hour before the funeral.
