SUFFOLK—Rufus T. Hart Sr., died peacefully during the early morning of

Nov. 26, 2007, at his residence.

Mr. Hart was born April 6, 1911, to the late Starling and Dellar Vann Hart in Como,

N.C.

At an early age, he relocated to Suffolk and graduated from Nansemond Collegiate Institute. He was married to the late Mable Gardner Hart.

He was the CEO of Metropolitan Church Federal Credit Union.

He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 1495, Trojan Club, Letter Carriers of America, past president of Tidewater Affair Association Inc., VA Credit Union League Association and a lifetime NAACP member.

He was a devoted member of Metropolitan Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by son, Rufus T. Hart Jr.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald O. Hart (Ethel) and Jerry B. Hart Sr. (DeAnna); sister, Adell Hart; cousin, Flossie Grimes; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive visitors at 805 Adams St.

A funeral will be held at noon Saturday in Metropolitan Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
