SMITHFIELD—Mable T. Black Brown, after 12 years of remission, lost her second battle with cancer Nov. 25, 2007, at Riverside Regional Medical Center.
A lifetime resident of Smithfield and a 1953 graduate of the Isle of Wight Training School, she was a lifetime member of Sandy Mount Baptist Church where she served in VArious capacities, most notably, the Usher Board.
She was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. John D. Tynes; mother, Lois R. Tynes; brother, Walter H. Tynes; and son, Sherwood Black.
Survivors include her brother, Albert Tynes, and sister, Jaunita Tillery, both of Maryland; son, William (Benny) Black Jr., and daughters, Gayla B. Guishard and Thais M. Black, all of Smithfield; grandchildren, Tobias Black, Andre’ Black, Nigel Guishard, Christopher Black, Dorian Black, Ashley Guishard, Alecia Guishard, Sonne Black; and one great-grandchild, Maya Black.
A funeral service was held Thursday at Sandy Mount Baptist Church.
Interment followed in the Tynes Family Private Cemetery.
