SUFFOLK—Gerald Keith Burris died Nov. 25, 2007, in Sentara Obici Hospital.

Mr. Burris was associated with Whiteheads Grove Baptist Church and also was a member of Moose Lodge No. 141 and Moose Legionaire No. 199.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lotha Burris; a son, R. Blane Burris; a brother, C. Wayne Burris; and sister, L. Gail Burris.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Betty Sue Wise Burris; daughter, Kelly B. Rhodes of Smithfield; one of his brothers-in-law, Jessie Wise of Windsor; aunt and uncle, Jerrell and Letha Huneycutt of Suffolk whom he lived with for many years; and three grandchildren, Charlene Burris, Jake Rhodes and Jordan Rhodes.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and following Jeff Gordon in the NASCAR circuit.

A graveside service, with military honors and Moose rites, was held Tuesday in Whiteheads Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Leonard officiating.

Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, was in charge of arrangements.
