NEWPORT NEWS—William R. “Billy” Newsome Jr., 57, died Nov. 15, 2007.

A native of Aulander, N.C., Mr. Newsome was born to William R. Sr. and Ethel Hardy Newsome on Oct. 15, 1950. He was a 1968 graduate of Ahoskie High School in Ahoskie, N.C., and a 1970 graduate of Wilson Technical College in Wilson, N.C.

Upon completion of his education, he nobly served in the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Army.

He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church East End and was employed with Northrop Grumman for over 30 years.

Cherished memories will be shared among his wife, Annie Howard Newsome; daughter, Shawnise Newsome of Richmond; siblings, Cendyrethia ‘Rita’ Brown, Barbara Kerns, and Joseph Bernard ‘JB’ Newsome, all of Aulander, N.C.; father-in-law, Alton Howard of Murfreesboro, N.C.; and a host of treasured family members and friends.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at First Baptist Church East End, Newport News.
