Waiters Briley Jr.

NEWPORT NEWS—Waiters “Buddy” Briley Jr., 49, died Nov. 15, 2007, as a result of injuries sustained in a trucking accident.

A graveside funeral was conducted Monday in Pinewood Memorial Park.

Mr. Briley was a lifelong resident of Norfolk and was a commercial truck driver.

He was an avid NASCAR fan, particularly of Dale Earnhardt Jr. Buddy was preceded in death by his father, Waiters Briley Sr.

Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Karen of Newport News; his mother, Bessie Elks Briley of Norfolk; daughters, April Wright of Chesapeake and Cynthia Silva and husband Randy of Williamsburg; sons, Heath Briley of Suffolk and Waiters E. Briley III of Virginia Beach; stepson, Richard Minnier and fiancee Natasha of Sunbury, Pa.; brothers, Dalford Briley and wife Susan and Johnnie Briley and wife Cindee, all of Camden, N.C.; sister, Tammy Pendergrass and husband Tim of Smithfield; five grandchildren, Samantha, Typanga, Abram, Grace and Ethan; stepgrandchild, Tegan; four nieces, two great-nephews, and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Arrangements were handled by Wilkerson Funeral Home and Crematory, Greenville, N.C.
