To the Editor:

I can’t take it any more. This whole incident that happened with Dustin Whitehurst was sudden and very tragic and my heart goes out to the Whitehurst family. But after reading the paper and about her and her trial I am very upset.

Yes, she did drink and drive and had drugs in her system, but it is being put out in the public like she has no remorse and harmed her child on purpose.

This city dwells on the negative issues going on and they are eating this situation up and it sickens me to no end. She did use bad judgment and was irresponsible when deciding to drive that late at night and being under influence, but there is no way that she would have harmed her child on purpose.

And yes, she should be convicted of a DUI and serve some jail time. But people have to realize this was her only child. She doesn’t have another child at home to keep her going. Her little boy is gone and it was at her own demise.

I blame her and feel sorry for her at the same time. She will have to live every day knowing what happened and relive that horrible night over and over every day for the rest of her life. That, itself, is a life sentence.
