SMITHFIELD—Mollie Darden Jones, 70, died Nov. 14, 2007, in Sentara Obici Hospital.

Mrs. Jones native and lifelong resident of Smithfield, she graduated from Smithfield High School in 1956. She was a member of Isle of Wight Christian Church and was a Sunday school teacher.

She was employed by the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office as a secretary and later was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles W. Darden Sr. and Lillian Darden; her stepmother, Mildred C. Darden; her sister, Anne Darden Stallings; her twin brother, Charles W. Darden Jr.; daughter, Sharon Lynn Jones; and an infant son.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Ben W. Jones Jr.; sons, Benjamin Wilson Jones and his wife Donna and Dale Darden Jones; and one granddaughter, DeAnna Holt, all of Smithfield; brothers, K. A. Darden of Radford and G.W. Darden of Greensboro, N.C.; brothers-in-law, Robert W. Stallings III and Merl Cornett, both of Smithfield; sister-in-law, Carol Darden of Newport News; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Luke’s Memorial Park, Smithfield, with the Rev. Joseph Talley officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in Colonial Funeral Home.
