VIRGINIA BEACH—Marie S. Prentiss, 78, died Nov. 12, 2007.

She was born Nov. 24, 1928, in Smithfield, to the late Carl and Pearl Setzer.

Survivors include her children, William M. Prentiss III, Pamela M. Harrison, Patricia L. Prentiss, Debra P. Felts, Joseph P. Prentiss and Jill E. Prentiss; her siblings, Herbert Setzer, Albert Setzer, Preston Setzer, Elizabeth Salmon, Carl Setzer and June Brown; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Prentiss was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Prentiss Jr. and daughter, Nancy Prentiss.

“Well done good and faithful servant.” She lived her life trusting God’s will and witnessing through her faith. Her body grew weak but her spirit stayed strong. She truly lived, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. today in Calvary Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Richard Smith, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
