WARSAW—India Joyner Williams, 83, died Nov. 13, 2007.

Mrs. Williams was born Aug. 17, 1924 in Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late James Henry and Grace Joyner.

A retired elementary school teacher, she attended Longwood College (now Longwood University).

She was preceded in death by her husband Russell; a daughter, Carolyn Joyner Williams; her brother, James H. Joyner, Jr.; and her sister, Mary Alice Joyner, who died Oct. 28, 2007.

Survivors include five children, Mary P. Williams of the home, Russell A. Perry and husband Lawrence of Leedstown; Gill Williams of Ocracoke Island, N.C.; Alice Winebarger and husband William of Placid Bay and Jim Williams of Fredericksburg; her loving brother, W.T. (Tommy) Joyner III and wife Patsy of Courtland; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Oak Grove on today at 2 p.m.
