Maude H. Deshields

CHESAPEAKE—Maude Harris Deshields, 81, died Oct. 31, 2007, in Riverside Convalescent Center, Smithfield.

Mrs. Deshields was a native of Pantego, N.C., and had been a Chesapeake resident for the past 58 years. She owned and operated Tidewater Insurers in Chesapeake with her husband, Rodney K. Deshields for 35 years. She loved being with her family, traveling and gardening.

She was a doll collector and collected dolls from all over the world.

Preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Kenneth Deshields, survivors include her daughter, Yolanda Williamson and husband Donald of Suffolk and a host of relatives and extended family and friends.

A graveside service was conducted Monday in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, with the Rev. Jarvis Hearn officiating.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Isle of Wight Humane Society SPCA, P.O. Box 273, Smithfield, VA 23430.

Arrangements were in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield.
