HAMPTON—Ann Joyner Francis, 80, died Oct. 31, 2007.

Born in Suffolk, and after attending Longwood College for four years, she taught in the Norfolk public schools at Ward’s Corner and then in Cypress Chapel School in Suffolk.

Mrs. Francis moved to Hampton in 1953 where she was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and a member of the altar guild.

She was a member of Riverdale Garden Club.

Survivors include her husband, Albert H. Francis; her son, Albert H. Francis Jr., MD and wife Eva Francis of Hampton and her daughter Mary Ann

Leftwich and husband Thomas Leftwich, DDS of Hopewell; seven grandsons, Jarad Francis, Brandon Francis, Timothy Ross, Jesse Ross, Jacob Ross, Tripp Leftwich and Conner Leftwich; and one great grandson, Hunter Ross.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Bethany United Methodist Church, Hampton with Revs. Arthur Rajanayakam and J. Blaine Blubaugh officiating.

Burial will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.

The family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, downtown Hampton, (757) 723-3191.

They will be at 40 Bay Front Place, Hampton (757) 850-4466 at other times.
