Richard E. Sheffield

WAVERLY—Richard Earl Sheffield Sr., 73, died Oct. 25, 2007, at Waverly Healthcare.
Born in Waverly on Sept. 16, 1934 he was the son of the late Otis Cleveland Sheffield and Grace Harrup Sheffield.
“Pee Wee”, as he was known by so many,
retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Co. and more recently worked for Fresh Pride in Waverly.
Mr. Sheffield was a member of Waverly Baptist Church, Beaverdam Sportsman Club, and Littleton Hunt Club.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Tyus Sheffield; their daughter, Tammy Sadler and her husband, Tracy; a grandson, Seth Ryder Sadler; a stepson, Wesley V. Creasey; a step-grandson, Kyle Creasey; his brothers, James Sheffield, Arthur Lee Sheffield, and George Sheffield; his sisters, Audrey Morris and Marie Jones; special friends, Terry and Shelton Jarratt and their children, Blake and Taylor Jarratt; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by a son, Richard E. “Bubba” Sheffield, Jr.; and a brother, Cleveland Sheffield.
Funeral services was held on Sunday in the Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, with the Rev. Keith Whitfield and the Rev. Larry Murray officiating.
Burial was in Waverly Cemetery.
