Faye O. Smith

WAVERLY—Faye Outland Eason Smith, 98, died Oct. 26, 2007, in Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.

She was a former resident and homemaker on Bank Street in Waverly and is survived by her husband, Roy Harold Smith.

Born in Isle of Wight County, she was the daughter of the late Junious Leroy and Ruth Wright Outland and the widow of Reidell H. Eason.

Mrs. Smith was also predeceased by two sisters Ruby O. Turner and Adelia O. Babb; three brothers, Leon Outland, Fenton Outland, and Carlton Outland; a nephew, Carlton Outland, Jr.; and a niece, Claris B. Cooper.

She was the oldest member of the Waverly Baptist Church and sang in the choir for many years. She was also a past member of the Eastern Star, Laurel Chapter.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Smith is survived by two stepchildren, “Jim” Smith and wifeKathy and Teresa Bales and husband “Butch;” three nieces, Joyce O. Bradt, Evelyn B. Massey Hitchings and Margaret Earle Spivey; and two nephews, J. L. Babb Jr. and Hurley Babb.

Funeral services was held Tuesday in the Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, with the Rev. Keith Whitfield officiating.

Burial will be in the Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery, Windsor.
