If you could select another profession, what would you do?
Teacher. I admire those who give all their heart to their students in order to make this world a better place.
Why do you choose to live in Franklin/Southampton/Isle of Wight County? To be close to family
If you had two weeks’ vacation and money were no object, how would you spend your time? Anywhere with my husband and kids. Maybe at Atlantis [in the Bahamas] or Disney

What’s the best life lesson you’ve learned, and who taught you?
My Dad taught me to just live your life. Do not live in fear.

What’s the best decision you’ve made in life? There are a few. Getting married to Roland and having my two boys
Which local charitable or non-profit organization do you wish more people would support?
Everyone should support their local fire and rescue department, school, and church. And please support the TPA at Tidewater Academy.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know. I wanted to be Wonder Woman when I grew up.
What’s your hobby? Volunteering at Ivor Baptist Church and at Tidewater Academy
If you could re-live one day of your life, which would it be and why? A three-way tie: The day I married Roland, the day Charlie was born, and the day Ryan was born because they were all the happiest days of my life
What gives you the blues? The way that society seems to be going. You usually hear nothing but bad things on the news.
What’s the most Southern thing you’ve ever done?
Decorated my living room with mounted deer heads
What’s your best childhood memory? Summers with my sister Trish and my cousin Alison

What frightens you most? The thought of anything bad happening to my kids
If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would it be and why? In the mountains, near a lake. I think it would be so peaceful.

Jimmy Carter
If you could pass or change one law, what would it be? We need tougher sentences on all crimes against children. Too often the offender just gets a slap on the hand and is back out on the street
What last brought tears to your eyes? I am sure it was tragic story about kids. It always gets to me.
If you could invite three guests - living or dead, from anytime in history - to dinner, who would they be? 1. My Dad 2. Jesus 3. My Husband
What three objects would you take with you to a desert island? 1. Cell phone (with all the works and solar powered battery); 2. Water cooler; 3. A tent
What kind of music do you like, and who’s your favorite performer? I like a variety of music. My favorite bands are Rascal Flatts and Bon Jovi.
Tell us about a good movie you’ve seen lately and why you liked it?
I cannot remember the last time I went to the movies. My favorite DVD is ‘The Notebook’ because it is the most romantic story I have ever seen.
Who’s a famous athlete or entertainer you admire? I admire Oprah, Jon Bon Jovi and any celebrity who can give back to the community.
