Henry L. Copeland Sr.

STUARTS DRAFT—Henry Lewis Copeland Sr. died Oct. 17, 2007, in the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Born Feb. 14, 1941, in Franklin, he was a son of James Clifton and Nina Pearl (Womble) Copeland.

Mr. Copeland was a graduate of Chowan College in Murfresboro, N.C., East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., and South East Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. Mr. Copeland was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church of Stuarts Draft and recently retired as a Realtor.

He spent more than 20 years as a Baptist minister serving at Bells Baptist Church in Apex, N.C., Staunton River Baptist Church in Brookneal and Flat Creek Baptist Church in Lynchburg.

He enjoyed going to the beach, fishing and volunteering at the Woodrow Wilson Rehab Center for the Wheelchair Olympic Games.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Copeland; a son, Henry Lewis Copeland Jr. and wife Cindy of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two daughters, Robin Denise Copeland of Cary, N.C. and Autumn Breanne Copeland of Stuarts Draft; two stepdaughters, Samantha Hensley King and husband Duane and Melissa Wenonah Hensley, both of Stuarts Draft; two brothers, James C. Copeland of Sedley and J. Winston Copeland of Haymarket; and six grandchildren, Katherine Copeland, Daniel Copeland, Ray Copeland, Elizabeth Copeland, Darrius King and Shaylee King.

He also leaves behind his many beloved pets.

A funeral was conducted Saturday in Ridgeview Baptist Church by Pastor Don McClure. Burial

followed in Hunting Creek Cemetery, Big Island.

Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes handled arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1920 H Medical Ave., Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
