CARROLLTON—Jane Dews Vinson, 76, died Oct. 14, 2007, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
A native of Portsmouth, shehad been a resident of Carrollton for the past 50 years.
She was a member of Riverview United Methodist Church and a past matron of the Smithfield Chapter of the Eastern Star.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Josie Dews; her husband, Elmer Lloyd Vinson and her son, Charles Wesley Vinson.
Survivors include her son, Russell Lloyd Vinson; daughter, Mary Vinson Banks and husband William (Chip); three grandchildren, Christie Jo Vinson, Beryl H. Perry III (Trey) and Nicholas Lloyd Perry; and great-granddaughter, Sascha Marie Perry.
A life celebration service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, with the Rev. Leon Basham officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Luke’s Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the home of the daughter, Mary, at 16120 Muddy Cove Circle, Carrollton.
