Troy N. Carr

WINDSOR—Troy Nathanuel Carr, 46, died Oct. 9, 2007, in Medical College of Virginia.

Mr. Carr was a native of Suffolk, a 1979 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and a 1983 graduate of Norfolk Naval Shipyard Apprentice School. Troy was a former nuclear welder foreman and nuclear mechanical systems inspector and until his death was in the nuclear engineering and planning department at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, where he had worked for twenty eight years.

He was a member of the Federal Managers Association, Metal Trade Council, Inspectors Union and the AFGE Local 4015.

He was a member of Suffolk Christian Church and a former member of Western Branch Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Lynn Simms Carr; mother, Brenda Atkins Anderson of Windsor; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Miles N. Carr of Suffolk; daughter, Tiffany Nicole Carr of Suffolk; son, Troy N. Carr Jr. of Courtland; sisters, Renee Carr Jones, Lisa Raby and husband Steve, Diane Fitzgerald and husband Terry, all of Suffolk, Sonya Melescu of St. Thomas, Virgin Island; niece, Ashley Raby of Suffolk; nephews Keith and Scott Jones, Joshua Raby, Gleason and Kevin Widner, all of Suffolk, James Melescu and wife Christian of Portsmouth; great nephew, Miles Melescu; several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Suffolk Christian Church by the Rev. Michael D. Halley with burial in Western Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

On today the family will receive friends in the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory from 4 to 7 p.m. and from 6:30 to 9p.m. a celebration of life and reception will be held at Suffolk Christian Church. At other times the family will be at the home.
