D. Michael Whitley

SEDLEY—David Michael Whitley, 59, a longtime Southampton County farmer, died Oct. 6, 2007.

Mr. Whitley was born in Suffolk, was the owner and operator of D & M Farms, and was a member of Hunterdale United Church of Christ.

He was a Navy veteran and served two tours in Viet Nam with the Seebees.

Survivors Include his wife of 36 years, Betty Mosley Whitley; his mother, Christine Williams “Nana” Whitley of Sedley; three sons, Carlton Michael Whitley and wife Sharon, Mark Alexander Whitley and wife Jennifer, Brian Franklin Whitley and wife Crystal, all of Sedley; two sisters, Linda W. Carter and husband Rob of Franklin, June W. Davenport and husband, Jobie, of Windsor, N.C.; four beautiful grandchildren, Austin David Whitley, Jack Alexander Whitley, Alexander Carlton Whitley, Chloe Belle Whitley; his extended family, David and Phyllis Bradshaw and Frankie and Linda Newsome, all of Sedley; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Michael was predeceased by his father David Franklin “Papa” Whitley.

A funeral was conducted Monday at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Armand Jalbert officiating. Burial followed in Rosemont Cemetery.
