To the Editor:

I have read several letters of support for local candidates in recent editions of your newspaper.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to add my opinion and voice my support for Amy Carr.

During my 15 years of appraising property in Southampton County and my one year’s service on the Board of Equalization, I have had numerous (probably hundreds) of opportunities to deal with Amy Carr on a professional level. I consider her to be a very capable public servant, possessing the qualities necessary to be our new Commissioner of the Revenue.

I know from first-hand experience that she is very knowledgeable about the county’s real estate, and the day-to-day operation of that office, having served for many years, under Mr. Harrup and his predecessors, Mr. Settle, and Mr. Marks.

She possesses a keen mind and an uncanny ability to recall minute details.

I have observed her on many, many occasions being very helpful, very courteous

(and extremely patient) with me and with other citizens needing help or assistance in that office, and always with a friendly smile.

Please do not be a no-show on election day.

Please do not stay at home and hope that Amy will win simply because she is the most qualified candidate. The county’s citizens and tax payers would suffer a terrible loss of a dedicated, experienced, and highly competent public servant if Amy were to lose this election.

I encourage all Southampton voters to join me at the polls in a few weeks and elect Amy Carr as our next Commissioner of the Revenue.
