FRANKLIN— A special night has been set aside for those who donate to the &uot;Y&uot; throughout the year.

The James L. Camp Jr. YMCA’s annual Donor Appreciation celebration will be held Thursday, Oct. 11, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Cypress Cove Country Club.

Appetizers, an open bar, music and valet parking will be available at the event.

Door and raffle prizes will also be awarded during the evening.

This year will offer a new spin on activities, rather than the traditional sit-down dinner.

According to Karen Dardeau, board of directors member, indoor horse racing will be provided this time.

She is co-chairing the race along with Will Councill, Jane Riddick-Fries and Sarah Strader.

&uot;It’s going to be a lot of fun,&uot; she said. &uot;Different local businesses are sponsoring different races.&uot;

Company and individual sponsorships are also being sold for each horse in each race.

There are six races with six horses in each race. A roll of the dice from a randomly selected audience member determines who progresses down the track. Bets may be made with the chips received at the door.

Another highlight of the evening is the presentation of the Volunteer of the Year Award. Business dress is recommended for the celebration.
