Wilda B. Hylton

Mrs. Hylton was a native of Tovey, Ill., the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy Bourlard of Tovey and served as a lieutenant in the Navy Nurses Corps during World War II where she met and married Alton H. Hylton Sr.
She was widowed Nov. 6, 2004. She was a member of Centenary Methodist Church and retired from her nursing career at Portsmouth General Hospital in 1986.
She and her husband, Hal, taught ballroom dancing and chaired the Portsmouth Cotillion Club.
Survivors include her children, Wilda J. Hylton of Franklin and two sons, Alton H. Hylton Jr. and wife Gay of Tyrone, Ga., and Terry Lynn Hylton and wife Sheila of Portsmouth; five grandchildren, H. Matthew Coggsdale Sr. and wife Dana, Melissa Fitch and husband Tim, Jennifer Metzler and husband Steve, Shannon Landry and husband Jeff and Stephanie Looney and husband Kendall; and great-grandchildren, Melvin Dunlow, Josh Dunlow, H. Matthew Coggsdale Jr. and Hannah Fitch. Wilda was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Bourlard Jr.; sisters, Dorothy Aymer and Louise Boesdorfer and husband Clarence reside in Illinois.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Gary F. Alvis.
Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
