Florence H. Lane

EDENTON, N.C.—Florence Hedgepeth Lane, 70, died Sept. 20, 2007 in the arms of her daughter in her home.
Mrs. Lane was born in Hertford, N.C., the daughter of the late Charlie S. and Daisy Whitley Hedgepeth. Retired as a loom operator with George C. Moore Corp., she was a member of Cape Colony Church of Christ, the VFW Auxiliary and a member of 27 years of the American Legion Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Walter Smith Lane and a sister Betty H. Baker
Survivors by four daughters, Darnell Bennett (Leo) of Honolulu, Hawaii, Kathy Granger (Cully) of Tunnel Hill, Ga., Teresa Dale (Dana) and Shelia Toppin, all of Edenton; one sons, Jack Lane (Tracy) of Elizabeth City; four sisters, Elsie Womble of Franklin, Diane Hoggard of Conway, N.C., Carolyn Truelove of Illinois and Sandra Lowder of Savannah, Ga.; four brother, Bill, Ervin, Calvin Hedgebeth of North Carolina and Chris Hedgebeth of Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sept. 23 in Miller Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Beaver Hill cemetery.
