Ruth D. Stokes

A native of Baltimore, Md., she was the widow of Earl Bales Dashiell Sr., and Levi Lester Stokes.
Mrs. Stokes was a member of Green Acres Presbyterian Church and was a U.S. Army Nurses Corps veteran of World War II.
She was a member and past commander of DAV Chapter 22 and a member of Women of the Moose Lodge No. 966.
Survivors include three sons, Earl Bales Dashiell Jr. of Poquoson, Ronald Lee Dashiell of Isle of Wight County and William Douglas Dashiell of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; four stepchildren; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 3 p.m. today in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Walter C. Hunting.
Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or the DAV Portsmouth Chapter 22.
