How’s business? I think everyone’s business is a little slow right now.
One thing you wish everyone knew about your business:
That we are here and the “Welcome” Mat” is always at our door.
Also about all of the many items and service we have to offer.
Something you offer that a customer won’t find elsewhere: The willingness to go the extra mile to help a customer
Advice to young entrepreneurs: Take slow calculated steps toward growth.
Don’t get in too deep too quickly. I know this from experience. Keep an open mind and accept change in stride. You can’t do it all yourself. Hire good people with good work ethics and remember, you, not your employees, are responsible for keeping up with what’s going on in your business.
Your first job: When I was 16 and 17 I worked at Tidewater Feed & Seed in Portsmouth.
I learned a lot about day to day life around a small family business.
Your role model (in business or in life generally): My dad. He taught me to treat people fairly and with respect, to deal honestly in life and business, to take responsibility for my actions and to stand up for myself.
The key to a successful business is:
We are still on the rocky road to success…. I’ll let you know when we get there.
I’m sure that honesty, confidence, vision and tenacity play a major role.
