SMITHFIELD—Roberta Jean Hendrix Ross, 75, died Sept. 12, 2007.
A native of Columbia, S.C., she was the daughter of the late George Robert Hendrix Sr. and Leda Mae Corley Hendrix. She had been a Smithfield resident since 1959.
Mrs. Ross will be remembered as a loving, supportive wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the sanctuary choir and was involved for many years with the Methodist Youth Fellowship and Vacation Bible School.
In addition to her father and mother, Roberta was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Thomas L. Ross Sr.; three sons, Thomas L. Ross Jr. and his wife Diana of Newport News, Richard M. Ross and wife Cindy of Charlottesville and David H. Ross and his wife Lynette of Smithfield; grandchildren, Michael Ross, Steven Ross, Katie Ross, all of Charlottesville, Erin Ross of Smithfield and Tiffany Shelton of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Rebecca Hendrix Williams and husband Owen and Gayle H. Williamson and husband Jerry, all of Lexington, S.C.; her brother, George R. Hendrix Jr. and wife Bengi of Lexington, S.C.; sisters-in-law, Lou Hendrix and Alice Hendrix of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Will Montgomery officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield.
