WINDSOR—Jerry Albert Allen, 56, died Sept. 11, 2007.

Mr. Allen was born in Fairmont, N.C., and was the owner of Hall of Fame Sales.

He was a 1969 graduate of Windsor High School and a 1974 graduate of Christopher Newport College where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997 for outstanding accomplishments in basketball, as a four year starter and double figure scorer, and track, as a Dixie Conference track champion in the 100 and 220.

He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Gail Allen; his father, Albert Allen and wife, Alice, of Walters; his son, David P. Allen and wife, Stacy, of Moorestown, N.J.; a sister, Tricia Phelps and husband, Rod, of Franklin; a brother, Larry A. Allen of Pickens, S.C.; three grandchildren, Sean, Trevor and Amanda Allen, by whom he was loved as “Da”; a niece, Candice Carr; nephews, Ben Phelps and J.R. Jones; great-nieces, Melissa and Tiffany Carr, by whom he was cherished as “”Woot-Woot” and great-nephew, Ethan Phelps, who also loved him as “Da”; mother -in- law,

Nancy W. Jones; sisters-in-law, Verna Jones and Lynn Jones and a brother-in-law, Tommy Jones.

He was predeceased by his mother, Myrtle B. Allen, his niece, “Angel” Amy Phelps and his sister, Brenda Allen.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Shiloh Cemetery on Shiloh Drive in Windsor followed by a celebration of his life in his vineyards directly across the street from the cemetery.
