Karl Watkins

RENO, Nev.—Karl Watkins, 54, died Aug. 29, 2007 after losing his long battle with illness.

Mr. Watkins was born on Sept 9, 1952 in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Mary Ann Thorsen and Benjamin Thomas Watkins. His parents then moved to Honolulu, HI where he spent the next 24 years honing his passion for surfing and nature.

His travels eventually led him to Reno, where he lived out his remaining years. As a member of the Roofer’s Local #224 he was an instructor for the apprenticeship program.

He was passionate about his work and the people at D& D Roofing where he worked for the past 22 years, 15 of which he was General Superintendent where he was affectionately known as their “fearless leader”.

He was a loving father to his son Joshua Watkins, in whom he took great pride and joy.

He was known for his quick wit and good sense of humor.

He is survived by “the love of his life”, Judy Good; his son Joshua Karl Watkins and Joshua’s mother Ingrid Lutz; his two brothers Benjamin Thomas Watkins III and William Watkins; his sister Ann Watkins, and many friends. Many family members also survive Karl in Franklin.

He is preceded by his sister Lisa Watkins, parents Mary Ann Thorsen and Benjamin Thomas Watkins II and Karl’s grand parents, Benjamin Thomas Sr., Gustava Powell Watkins and Karl M Thorsen, all from Franklin.

Memorial Services will be held in Reno.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Karl Watkins Memorial Fund, to be used for a park bench in his memory.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walton Funeral Home, Reno, NV.
