SUFFOLK—Maud Elizabeth Williams Richardson, 72, died Aug. 26, 2007, after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Richardson was born in Suffolk, reared in the Central Hill area of Isle of Wight County and had lived in Suffolk for the past 40 years. She was of the Baptist faith. A beloved wife and mother, Maud’s family was the most important part of her life.
She will be remembered for designing and sending “Maud’s Original” greeting cards for special occasions and remembrances. She loved the beach, flowers and the simple things in life, along with lasting conversations with friends.
She was always giving away a smile and positive attitude and a home-cooked meal.
Preceded in death by her husband, Frank Byrd Richardson, survivors include her four children, two daughters, Elaine Richardson and Kay “Bug” Richardson, both of Suffolk, who were her caregivers for the past six years; several grandchildren; special friend, Joan Grey; and a host of extended family members.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Uzzell’s United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Russell Leonard officiating. The family will receive friends in the home.
The family would like to thank AmeriCare-Plus of Smithfield and Melissa Cook, Maud’s most recent nurse and caregiver, and all who made her life special.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Uzzell United Methodist Church, 15363 Uzzell Church Road, Smithfield, VA 23430 or Whitehead’s Grove Baptist Church, 18366 Benn’s Church Blvd., Smithfield, VA 23430 or to the charity of one’s choice.
