Smithfield team takes title in First Flight

Winners of the fourth annual Paul D. Camp Community College Golf Tournament on Aug. 10 at Cypress Creek Golfers’ Club in Smithfield were:

_ First Flight – First place: Richmond Cold Storage, Smithfield Team (Tony Stephenson, Damon Spain, Chris Kennedy and John Greenly); second place: PPM Team (Robert Gaskins, Dustin Lanier, Jamie Tucker and Mike Noia); third place: Western Branch Metal Team (Ken Stone, Todd Skeeter, Otto Dunn and Glenn Rosso).

_ Second Flight – First place: Duke Automotive Team (Paul Phillips, Dave Lease, Bob Lane and Mark VanEck); second place: Dominion Surry Power Station Team (Sandy Mann, Alex Parker, Wayne Worley and Delano Hodges); third place: Fenters Team (Bryan Fenters, Rich Prosser, Steve Drake and Kyle Cousins).

_ Third Flight – First place: Smolak Team (John Smolak, Ed Patnesky, Pete Parker and Bob Waldo); second place: H. Woodrow Crook Team (Woodrow Crook, George Bradley, Wayne Rountree and O.A. Spady); third place: Obici (Rosemary Check, Chet Hart, Dr. Tom Thames and Dr. Tom Bergfield).

Hosted by the Paul D. Camp Community College Foundation to raise money for PDCCC student scholarships and staff and faculty needs, the tournament netted $20,207.

Rainey, P.L.L.C. Many area businesses donated freebies, door prizes and refreshments.

Tournament facilitators were Charles Modlin, chairman; Kendall Edwards; Harold Blythe; Patsy Joyner; Holt Livesay; and Glenn Rawlings.

The fifth annual PDCCC Golf Tournament will be held next year in Franklin.
