Irvin P. Hambleton Jr.

NORFOLK—Irvin P. &uot;Buck&uot; Hambleton Jr., 78, died Aug. 5, 2007.
He was born Aug. 22, 1928, to the late Laura May and Irvin P. Hambleton Sr. He was educated in Portsmouth city schools and attended Marshall University.
In September of 1946, Buck enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps. After discharge, he was employed as a civil engineer. He was a member of Western Branch Lodge No. 189 AF&AM, a member of Scottish Rite Bodies of Freemasonry and became a 50-year Mason in 2004.
Mr. Hambleton was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Mitchell Hambleton and sister, Patricia L. Ackiss.
Survivors include his daughter, Pamela Hambleton of Norfolk; stepsons, Steve Mitchell of Windsor and David Mitchell of Ivor; sister, Elizabeth H. Burks of Richmond; brother, William P. Hambleton of Norfolk; former wife, Verna J. &uot;Bunny&uot; Carasiti; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Frank Hawkin and Gregory Creekmore.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Peninsula Funeral Home.
A graveside service with Masonic rites with be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Peninsula Memorial Park officiated by Bishop H. Hasbrouck Hughes Jr. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the Radisson Hotel Norfolk.
