Samuel R. Darden

COURTLAND—Samuel “Sam” Rudolph Darden, 72, died July 26, 2007.

He was born in Nansemond County, a son of the late Elmer and Martha Gardner Darden. A retired farmer, he was a member of Delaware Hunt Club and a Christian.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Lily Lee Dundlow Darden; two daughters, Lorie D. White and husband, Jimmy, and Wanda D. Hunt and husband, Brian, all of Franklin; three grandchildren, Teri White, Samantha White, Brandie Hunt; five sisters, Nell Kauss, Ida Victoria Leake, Lois Turner, Lucille Blanchard, Martha Ann Bradshaw; and three brothers, Cliff Darden, Phillip Darden, James Darden. Mr. Darden was predeceased by a grandchild, Tabatha Dorothy White, two sisters, Blanche Darden and Hazel Johnson; and five brothers, Willie, Elmer, Roy, Joe, and Clayton Darden.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday at Wright Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the home of Lorie & Jimmy White, 26128 Delaware Road and suggests memorials be made to Delaware Hunt Club, c/o Bob Beale, 19089 Drake Road, Franklin, Va. 23851.
