AFTON—Mr. and Mrs. William F. Mawyer

are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Katherine to Justin Keith Barnes, son of Sandra D. Barnes and the late Mitcheal K. Barnes of Sunbeam.

Mawyer is the granddaughter of the late R. Edward and Lizzie M. Story of Newsoms and Julia P. Mawyer and the late William D. Mawyer of Batesville.

Barnes is the the grandson of

Walter Franklin Drake and the late Clarine N. Drake of Sunbeam and Edna G. Barnes and the late O. Gordon Barnes of Courtland.

The bride attended Nelson County High School and graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in civil engineering.

The groom attended Southampton High School and graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in forestry.

They are both employed in the building industry in Charlottesville.

The wedding is planned for Oct. 6 in the Shenandoah Valley.
