Katherine G. Miltier

VIRGINIA BEACH—Katherine Gray Miltier, 86, formerly of Suffolk, died July 17, 2007, at her home.
Born in Newsoms, she was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Maude S. and James Kelly Gray Sr.; husband, Joseph Elliott Miltier Sr.; daughter, Gwendolyn Rita Rosette; son, Joseph E. (Joell) Miltier Jr.; brothers, J. K. Gray Jr. and Ernest Stuart Gray; and sister, Blanche G. Vaughan.
She was of Scottish Irish descent, but was a true daughter of the South and made the best fried chicken.
Mrs. Miltier was a former member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Suffolk, the AARP and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include her son, Kelly P. Miltier of Portsmouth; sister, Ann Allen of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; special granddaughter, Debbie Duke; and special cousin, Carolyn Jernigan.
A funeral will be conducted today at 11 a.m. in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chesapeake, by the Rev. John Gray of the Union Mission Ministries.
R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, is in charge of arrangements.
