Edith S. Williams

WESTFORD, Mass.—Edith Smith Williams, a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Fla., and the West Norfolk section of Portsmouth, died June 29, 2007.

She was the beloved wife of James L. Williams who died in 1993. They celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Mrs. Williams was born in Isle of Wight County, March 15, 1915, a daughter of Sarah (Owens) and Littleton Smith. She was a homemaker and an active member of the Glynlea Grace United Methodist Church in Jacksonville where she participated in the United Methodist Women and the Lecture Class.

She had also been a member of the Homemakers Club in Jacksonville.

Survivors include a daughter, Louise Wey and her husband Robert of Westford; a son, James L. Williams Jr. and his wife Annette of Bossier City, La.; granddaughter, Catherine Wey; granddaughter, Kristin Silva and her husband Chad; and two great-granddaughters, Lindsey and Shelby Silva; sister, Margaret Riggins of Portsmouth; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Scott Williams.

Mrs. Williams was buried in Jacksonville on July 5, 2007.
