What’s the best part of your day? End of a shift when I discover that a student has grasped a concept for patient care
If you could select another profession, what would you do? Running a foster care center for children
Why do you choose to live in Franklin/Southampton/Isle of Wight County? My husband has lived in this area all his life. I lived in Pittsburgh, Pa., during my early years until the last two years of high school. I am a flexible person who loves change and could be satisfied in most any area.
If you had two weeks’ vacation and money were no object, how would you spend your time? Exploring Paris
Favorite food: Steak
Favorite weekend destination: For 17 years my favorite weekend destination was various sites for a weekend drill in the United States Army Reserve, Army Nurse Corps. Unfortunately at the time of my promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, they decided that I had gone one year past the age limit even though I was more compliant with weight control, physical fitness and superior performance to many of the young officers.

What’s the best life lesson you’ve learned, and who taught you?
There is no task too great to attempt. Never give up on what you believe in. Taught by my grandfather, Robert Eley, who was a self educated man.

What’s the best decision you’ve made in life? Going to college

What’s your hobby? Sewing and jogging
If you could re-live one day of your life, which would it be and why? Unsure. Experience has been a great teacher. There are many things that I could have done differently. However, I have had a good life compared to many and I thank God for my many blessings.
What gives you the blues? Being misunderstood by people
What’s the most Southern thing you’ve ever done? Worked on the farm
What’s your best childhood memory: When there was only two of us as children and going to Sunday school
