Sam G. Goodwyn

BRANCHVILLE—Sam Green Goodwyn, 87, of the 34400 block of Joyner Road, died July 5 2007, at his home.

A native of Branchville, he was a retired carpenter and a World War II veteran.

Mr. Goodwyn was a member of Galilee Baptist Church and was a member of the deacon board.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Dolly Murphy Goodwyn; three daughters, Paige Turner, Deborah Goodwyn, and Doreen Tubbs; three sons, the Honorable Judge S. Bernard Goodwyn, Walter Goodwyn and foster son, Demetrick Jones; and his sister, Lillian Woodley.

He was predeceased by his mother, Sally D. Goodwyn and his father, George Goodwyn.

A funeral was held Monday in Galilee Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie L. Diggs, pastor presiding. Burial was in the church cemetery with military honors.

Engram Funeral Home, Courtland, was in charge of arrangements.
