In addition to two-year degree and year-long certificate programs, PDCCC provides short-term career studies programs ranging from nine to 29 credit hours. They include American Sign Language, Bookkeeping, Child Care I and Child Care II, Computer Support Specialist, Hardware and Software Support, Industrial Maintenance, Industrial/Residential Wiring, Legal Office, Medical Office Billing Clerk, Medical Office Specialist, Nurse Aide, Phlebotomy, Pre-Nursing, Professional Welder-Fabricator, Professional Welder-Pipe, Professional Welder-Plate, Religious Studies, Supervision, Word Processing Technician, and the following new programs.

Entrepreneurship in Small Business Management (18 credit hours)

This program is designed for present and potential small business owners and employers who want to acquire the basic knowledge and skills necessary to create, organize, manage, and run a local small business with 100 or fewer employees. Occupational objectives include Small Business Entrepreneurs, Small Business Owners, Small Business Managers, and Small Business Employees. Courses include Principles of Accounting I, Introduction to Business, Small Business Management, Business Law I, Introduction to Computer Applications and Concepts, and Principles of Marketing.

Entrepreneurship in Small Business Management n Advanced (18 credit hours)

This program is for present and potential small business owners and employers who want to acquire more detailed information and skills needed to more efficiently and profitably run a local small business with less than 100 employees. Occupational objectives include Small Business Owners, Small Business Managers, Small Business Employees, and Small Business Consultants.

Courses include Principles of Accounting I, Communications in Management, Principles of Management, Introduction to International Business, Introduction to Computer Applications and Concepts, and Principles of Advertising.

Fire Science Technology (29 credit hours)

This program is designed to provide a broad-based knowledge of current and future advances in the Fire Science Technology field. Emerging technology in the fire and emergency service field requires that personnel keep abreast of the latest changes in specialized equipment and technology. Completion of the program leads to various careers, such as firefighter, fire officer, fire protection specialist, fire/emergency instructor, fire or building inspector, fire investigator, rescue technician, emergency medical service, hazardous materials service, emergency manager, occupational safety and risk management, and related occupations. Courses include College Success Skills, College Composition I, Introduction to Computer Applications and Concepts, Principles of Emergency Services, Fire Suppression Operations, Social Science Elective (Psychology or Sociology), English, Social Science or Humanities elective, CPR for Healthcare Providers, Building Construction for Fire Protection, Fire prevention, and Fire Instructor I.

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (24 credit hours)

This program is for persons seeking employment in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) fields. It emphasizes in-depth training in theory, hands-on applications, and on-the-job experience. Students learn the characteristics of refrigerants, circuit diagrams, burners and heat pumps, and advanced service techniques on a wide variety of equipment used in refrigeration, air conditioning, and phases of heating, ventilation, and controls. Courses include Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Control I, II, and III; Circuits and Controls; Heating System I; Heat Pumps; Advance Troubleshooting and Services; and Seminar and Projects.

Leadership (24 credit hours)

This program is designed to develop and enhance the knowledge and practical skills necessary for persuading, influencing, and inspiring others toward positive organizational change. Instruction focuses on ethical decision-making, personal negotiation strategies, conflict resolution, and effective communication techniques. Participants will develop personal strategies to enhance their ability to be leaders in their chosen field, whatever it may be. Courses include Business Communications, Principles of Supervision I, Leadership Development, Principles of Management, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Communications in Management, and Introduction to Sociology.
