Windsor soccer team concludes successful season

WINDSOR—Windsor High School’s varsity soccer team this week wrapped up a successful 2007 season that included a second-place finish in the Tri-Rivers District.

The Dukes fell 7-2 to Rappahannock High in regional play on the road Tuesday and ended up with an overall record of 9-4 on the season.

In last week’s district tournament, Windsor whipped rival Franklin 12-0 and pulled off a 1-0 thriller over Appomattox Regional Governor’s School.

Earning first-team All-District honors for the Dukes were

Maurice Annello, Timmy Songer, Alfred Wilson, Steven Powell and Jared Griffin. Second-team All-District selections were Jacob Tynes, Matt Bond and Enrique Espinoza. Christian Daniels and Gonzalo Guimoye received honorable mention.

Making the All-Academic Team were Songer and Ryan Copeland

The team set a school record with 61 total goals on the season.
