Knights appreciate support of fund-raiser

To the Editor:

On March 31 and April 7, the Knights of Columbus Council and parishioners of St. Jude Catholic Church accepted donations in front of the Wal-Mart store in Franklin for the Knights of Virginia Assisting Citizens with Mental Retardation program.

This program provides support for citizens with mental retardation throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Again this year, your kindness and response has been overwhelming, the most ever received.

The Knights are very grateful to everyone in our community for their personal generosity and to Wal-Mart’s management for its organizational and financial support.

The program has provided more than $10 million to organizations and group homes in the commonwealth.

In our area, the program has extensively supported The Children’s Center of Franklin, Zuni Presbyterian Training Center, Western Tidewater Community Association, Graz ‘n Acres Riding Center of Sedley, Special Olympics and the Sussex-Greensville-Emporia Adult Activity Services.

All administrative costs are borne by the Knights of Columbus, so all contributions go directly to the disadvantaged.

Thank you and God bless you.
