Current war has lasted longer than Civil War, World War II

To the Editor:

I wanted to point out a few things that have come to mind.

The Civil War in the United States started April 12, 1861 with the shelling of Fort Sumter, S.C., and is generally considered ending with Gen. Robert E. Lee’s surrender at Appomattox on April 9, 1865.

Our entry into World War II started with the bombing of Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, and ended with the bombing of Nagasaki on Aug. 9, 1945.

The war in Iraq was started March 19, 2003, and is still going on. We have been involved in this war in Iraq longer than either of these other two wars.

Think about it.
