Winston G. Berryman Sr.

WAVERLY—Winston Greenwood Berryman Sr., 80, died unexpectedly March 30, 2007, at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg.

Born in Surry County, he was the son of Eula Barham Berryman of Smithfield and the late Lolie Greenwood Berryman. Mr. Berryman was a retired construction foreman for Cowling Brothers in Waverly, a retiree of Gray Lumber Co., and a former Surry County farmer.

He was a member of Waverly Congregational Christian Church and a member of the Waverly Youth Hunt Club.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Winifred Maifeld Berryman; two daughters, Rita Hughes and husband Felix and Wendy Johnson and husband Tony; a son, Winston G. Berryman Jr. and wife Ellen; a brother, Waverly Wayne Berryman and wife Betty; a sister, Emily Gayle Brown and husband Jim; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral was held Monday in Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Surry, with the Rev. Joy Heaton officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
