Clara S. Blythe

FRANKLIN—Clara Smith Blythe, 88, widow of Philip Wayne Blythe Sr., died April 2, 2007.

Born in Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Lockett “Bunk” Smith and Virgie Vick Smith. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and a longtime member of Tomahawk Baptist Church in Midlothian.

Survivors include her daughter, Anita Blythe Walker and husband, Robert O. Walker, of Virginia Beach; a son, Philip Wayne Blythe, Jr., and wife, Carolyn Butler Blythe, of Midlothian; four sisters, Louise S. Parker of Franklin, Frances S. Stewart of Portsmouth, Rose S. Breedlove of Virginia Beach and Nell S. Moses of Newport News; three grandchildren, Chadwick W. Blythe, Jennifer Walker Hinson and husband, Steve, and Kelly Walker Gregory and husband, Dave; four great-grandchildren, Jordan and Chelsey Gregory and Kyle and Kristopher Hinson; two sisters-in-law, Martha Blythe of Franklin and Margaret Smith of Boykins.

Mrs. Blythe was predeceased by a sister, Eunice S. Hill, and two brothers, Curry W. Smith and Charlie Smith.

The funeral will be held at 2

p.m. today in Franklin Baptist Church with the Revs. Drs. Richard Childress and Ira D. Hudgins officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
