Annette V. Daniels

CHESAPEAKE—Annette V. Daniels, 54, of 3100 block of Hancock Drive, died March 29, 2007, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
She was born in Sussex County to the late Josephine Branch Boykins and Dennis Daniels.
Ms. Daniels received her early education in Sussex County Public Schools. She was a graduate of Riverview High School in Southampton County. She also received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Norfolk State University.
Again from NSU, she later received her Master of Arts degree in administrative supervision. After 30 years of service with the Portsmouth Public School System, she retired as an administrator.
At the time of her death, she was working towards a Master of Divinity degree from the Virginia University of Lynchburg (Suffolk site). On March 4, 2004, she answered God’s calling, preached her initial sermon and became a licensed minister.
The Rev. Daniels was an Associate Minister of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Ivor, where she also founded the Senior Citizens Ministry.
Furthermore, she has served in the capacity of chairperson of the Education Ministry, Pastor’s Anniversary and Finance Committee, Adult Sunday School teacher, as well as Bible Study facilitator. Likewise, the Rev. Daniels served as worship leader for various services, as she often ventured in the task of Youth Day speaker at several programs.
She also facilitated a number of workshops throughout the Tidewater community. Annette held memberships with the Smithfield Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., the National Teachers Association, as well as the National Teachers Council of Mathematics.
She was a loyal jewel to her family and friends.
Survivors include her stepfather, Lee Roosevelt Boykins Sr. of Ivor; two sisters, Sarah Boykins Hartsfield (Gerald) of Ivor and Jeanette Boykins Foster (Calvin) of Newport News; one brother, Lee Roosevelt Boykins Jr. (Joan) of Emporia; three aunts, Nettie B. Colbert of Prince George, Serene Ridley of Piney Grove and Mattie Rowland of Wakefield; one uncle, James Boykins of Wakefield; two nieces, Shanae Boykins of Ivor and Trineke Foster of Newport News; three nephews, Lee Roosevelt Boykins III and Jermaine Boykins of Emporia, and Gerald Hartsfield Jr. of Ivor; many cousins, including a devoted cousin, Linda Lyons, neighbors and friends.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at noon today at Ebenezer Baptist Church at 10686 Ivor Road in Ivor with the Rev. William T. Smith officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family can be contacted at 804-943-4995 and 434-594-6963.
